We teach anti rape classes. These are the first two rules (run away towards people, not attempting to pacify in any other way).

Next is to urinate or defecate.
    thats a good tip.

would sure put me off !! dunno how they'd do it at will tho', i find it hard to pee if someones watching !!

    Stevey, I agree with completely.

(when You posted about me of course)

not walking away from a fight, when possible is egotistical and can often be fatal.

When I said "too many fights to remember", It is in fact a lie. You always remember real fights, they're to real, to scary to forget. You just may not want to relive them. serious fights result in serious injuries, hence the reason why I have had so many broken fingers, and have been stabbed, and had so many serious cuncusions(sp?). I'm not proud of my fights, in fact I disdain them, they can only hurt you or someone else.

One thing that you probably misunderstood is that most of those injuries were not from fights, but from sports. Ribs in football, arms broken. . .

I have so many cuts because I was a little crazy when I was younger and liked to do some crazy things, all of which usualy ended up in stitches.

When I was stabbed, I was actually trying to walk away from the fight, and the guy obviously didn't want me to. I won that fight, not from muscle/toughness, that doesn't matter when someone has a weapon, I hit him across the face with a 2-by4. walked away, never saw him again (he lived in my neighborhood) the whole damn thing spawned over his sister.

My advise to all from my limited experience. . .

    1. never underestimate an apponent
    2. only fight if your prepared to kill . . . especialy if he pulls a weapon on you
    3. never fight someone who has a weapon, ever. . . unless forced
    5. never fight over a girl (they're not worth it)
    6. never fight someone who has nothing to lose
    7. the most important -- there is no honor in fighting, all that kung fu, honor in winning crap is bull****.

And as stevey said, I'm only in highschool, I do not know everything. this is how I view things, from a ****ed time eirlier in life. I hope I never get in a fight again.

    My two-pence
if a contradiction was contradicted would that contradition contradict the origional crontradiction?

    j/k

I took 7th Star Praying Mantis Kung-Fu for a few years in my early
20s. About 3 months ago about a dozen or so guys decided to
start a small sparring group ( all from different disciplines, from
Karate to Judo to plain old bar fighting ) for fun.

In my first fight with the group I relied completely on my Kung-Fu
training and ( although I'm sure my form was nice and pretty ) I
wound up tapping out to an armbar about a minute and a half
into the fight. Granted I developed my speed, power and
flexibility by studying Kung-Fu but in a fight the fancy stuff is
    no good.

Fight #2 I dropped the pretty forms and we ended in a draw
( fight #1 was against a guy who studied American Karate, #2
was against a guy who studied Tai Kwan Do ). In class our Sifu
always stressed form, etc.. If he follows his own advice I hope for
his sake that he never gets into a real fight

ok then, time for honesty. I really am a 2nd dan in taekwondo but have never been in any fights (I'm too nice ). However the way I see it, I know far more now than I knew when I started so how can I dispute its usefulness yet.

Anyway can't quit now, its a bit like codin' you kinda get addicted to the training and the rush you get after a good session!

actually, i quoted your original post, because i was going to say something sensible, but then started typing and having a right rant because i was in a bad mood. what i was saying wasn't actually directed at YOU....i was thinking about some of the cocky blackbelt kids at the gym and my cocky blackbelt friend, who seem to know it all...they wind me up.....always knowingly telling me how its done....and in fact i was thinking about 1 or 2 in particular, not the whole bunch.
then i looked to see how old you were for interests sake and noticed you were in high school, but i couldn't be bothered to delete it/modify it or add that i wasn't talking about you. then i was thinking jeez this guys had a lot of injuries and was far more interested in the stabbing than anything else......

i was also ranting cos its the teenage 'hardcases' where i live, that cause all the trouble...lads who make you walk round them cos they are too 'hard' to move out the way...their 'hardness' is such a big deal to them.....i hate the whole macho hardcase bull****.....
also the landlord at my local pub has been killed by a teenage thug who punched him unexpectedly, knocked him over then proceeded to stamp on his head....he was a very small, very nice guy...i can't get it out of my head.....all he'd done was ask him to leave cos he was causing trouble....
also i have a problem because i was bullied badly at school until i started fighting back......and seem to get attacked/picked on quite often cos i'm small/clumsy/unlucky/just got one of those faces or whatever....

ive obviously got a chip on my shoulder and ought to chill out.....

people who have had fights always tend to have a chip on their shoulder (like me) about martial artists and instructors who have never had a fight. you'll think "bloody black belts think they're so hard" when actually they don't. its you that has the problem not them.
my own chip is partly due to
    1) a blackbelt friend of mine who was beaten up twice
    2) a blackbelt friend of a friend who was a bouncer and forgot all his training when a guy attacked him
    3) some of the 'karate kids' i know are SO BLOODY COCKY !!!
4)some techniques are totally impractical for self-defence
5)theres a blackbelt lady i know who thinks she can push all the guys around, in fact she LOVES it!! a truly awful bullying person...but its far from typical...

but its obvious that anyone trained in martial arts will be far better prepared if/when the crunch happens, than someone who hasn't. as long as you are not so overconfident that you'll get into trouble when it could be avoided, and that you don't try some fancy impractical technique.

also as sports, teaching discipline, getting fit etc they are always beneficial and fun.....

    anyway thats all she wrote..............

This is why it always depends on what the individual is like, she obviously loves the power trip thing and is good enough to pull it off. I know I'm not good enough so I dont even try - and so have never had a fight

It is true that one doesnt become "street proficient" in a martial art for many years, but if ya work at it a lot and are dedicated, then eventually you will far surpass any streetfighter, no matter how experienced. I used to take Japanese Karate emphasized the form always in practice, he said that you can only max out your power and speed if the form is absolutely perfect. Bruce Lee would be a good example here...
I go to encounter for the millionth time the reality of experience and to forge in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race.

Windows XP consists of 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor, written by a 2 bit company, that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

yah I hate those kids who think their hardass. one of my friends takes some kind of martial arts class. . . only with weapons. if we were to fight, fist on fist, I'd win, but i've seen this guy with a sword. . .

    well I don't think I'd want to find out. . .

He's had street experience, kinda, used to live in the middl-east (he's a christian, go figure)

anyway enough of this can't we all just be friends

. . . lets all go to jokes thread

    I got this good one,

three guys, a cook and the pizza boy all . . .
