why reinvent the wheel? flashdaddee has what you are looking for and more (probably), and it's already got a decent userbase.

are ultraboards easy to set up? i'm going to be making an RPG board for flashdaddee, and i'm looking into free message board alternatives to PHPBB which Rick would have to set up an SQL database for on flashdaddeesfreehold, which is a pain in the neck.
proboards are very professional, but also very easy to set up. It fits with anything. http://proboards.com/

phpbb is very easy to set up. but as far as I know, it doesn come with a manual. just install php and mysql. creat a datbase and then install php and you're ready to go.
btw, we had some problems with the email notification over at http://iainpb.co.uk Were you able to complete your registration. i.e. follow the link in the email you received? Or did you got a bad link?

well, i don't have my own domain, i'm running it off of flashdaddee's freehold, and rick has to get me the database information.

Damn I knew it. My ISP is cheating on me with this so called "broadband" connection
btw: they are much faster now
