It is. But whatcha gonna do? Like i said, i've got very little spare time (esp. lately) so the rare times i do feel like taking a break from my own nasty problems to go help somebody else with theirs, i dont usually spend hours doing it.Especially since i have to spend a certain amount of time 'modding' (i.e. Removing Series repetetive, obnoxious posts

I've been rather apathetic the past few weeks. I'll browse through the new posts and (usually) mumble the answer to myself after reading the problem. If I think I can get the orignal poster on track with a single message, I will. If I think the thread will turn into a drawn-out "what did you mean by that" conversation, I avoid the thread. In all fairness, threads that end up that way probably didn't receive a clear answer in the first place.
Occasionally, I'll have plenty of time on my hands and will post a mini-novel regarding a problem, but it has been a while since I've done that ;)

1). Notice that although it's a dumb newbie type question it's had 58 views & 8 "answers". This has to be down to the title.
2). Even more interesting, notice that people answered what they thought the question was, and not the question itself!

what about content? if the post's length(not counting code, that's another topic altogether) is long, do you just scan it for any details, and then answer what you think the question was? how many skip over long detailed posts? does it make more sense to keep posts short and to the point, or to include all the details so the person reading it knows your full problem in one seating?
I'll stop and read a long one if it is well written (e.g. not l33t speak or hard-to-follow grammar). However, if there is a long code segment without [code] tags, I'll skip over the post.Originally posted by ygfperson
