    I'm Terrorized

My operating system is wrecked now by Nimda. I have all the updates but that does nothing for me. I'm scared to surf the web. It's not safe.
    I compile code with:
    Visual Studio.NET beta2

I don't know how I got the virus. The talked about some email written in Chineese. I didn't get any email like that. I also didn't get the email with the blank body and the invisible exe. I'm not sure how I got the virus but apparently there is no cure.

I have all the latest Service pack updates, so I don't think is able to propogate itself though my email, however I think I'm anonomously calling numbers and clogging up the internet. It's hard to say. My Modem lights seem to be more active than usual. I'm rather disappointed with computers. I don't think that Linux is any better because that is a very ugly operating system just to use for simple tasks. Right now I can still use my computer but it might be distressing the internet. Can't do much about it.

Granted, there is a bit of a learning curve with Linux or some variant of it, but I challenge you to find a more efficient OS that works as cleanly and easily. I can get SOOO much more done so much quicker on a *nix setup than I can with any windows setup. And I've been working with Windows much longer than I have with Linux.

But yes... I think Nimba is rather frightening..

    >My Modem lights seem to be more active than usual.<

do you use file sharing programs???

you modem/hub/card lights will go nuts for years...

my best advice is to get a firewall...

    http://www.Zonelabs.com

though if your already infected i don't know how much it will do...

here's some advice though it's mostly common sense and you probably know it already.

    1. Never open e-mails from someone you don't know. there was an IE bug a while back that if you just opened the(there were no attachments) e-mail it granted the emailer full access to your com and theres no gettin him off.

and don't RUN ATTACHMENTS THAT HAVE FRIGGEN ooo!!ooo!!ooo!!.jpg.exe ITS STILL AN EXE!!!

    2. Don't download any exe/com/zip/rar or whatever from an untrusted/russian/chinese site

    3. Don't Visit hax0r sites unless you wan't to get hacked cause though its against hax0r protocal some morons do it anyway.

    4. Don't Give out your IP to anyone you don't trust

    5. When you set up a Web Server make sure its secure go search for some sites on how to do it same goes for FTP's

    6. If you decide to ignore 3. which you all will DONT EVER down load their little programs so you can download there cracked software go somewhere else.

    7. there are more i'm just to lazy to type them...
