I used to use Dogpile. Swore by it. However, it seemed to me that it.......started....t..o.......get..........slower and slower.

Anyone else tried the google bar? (sorry, IE only). Brilliant idea, I can now search straight from the toolbar!

Tried to use the google toolbar. It won't work for me though. Screws up when I try to download it.

That's a real shame. Some really good features (example, highlight a word / phrase & right-click to search for that phrase).

Worked fine for me - no need to reboot or anything.

    Try again - good luck.

A "google bar" has existed in Opera for quite awhile.

Better yet is how Konqeuror handles searches. If you put some string in quotes in the address bar, it will search google with that string.

Ever since when did Google become so popular? I do prefer it over other search engines, mostly because it's not overloaded with other content, but is nice and simple... also fast. It just seems to me that only recently Google was nowhere as popular as now, am I right here? If so, what's the reason for such a change?

Depends what you're looking for really.. I find browsing through the web directories in my local libr- sorry I mean newsagent is more effective for finding something entertaining if you're bored..

A more interesting poll would be the most embaressing search engine to use while your parents are around.. my vote goes to altavista for that one.

..actually, AltaVista even has a family filter thing, supposed to filter out offensive/adult content... you can either turn it on or off. Doesn't this show that they somewhat care about whether their site is offensive and whether the searches brought up are the same?
