Production is irrelevant. You are saying the rich / powerful have the right to pollute. ("because we sell more we should be allowed to pollute more")

Cost of cleaning up pollution should be considered a cost of production.
As it is for product packaging at point of purchase in Germany and recycling / disposal of product after use in Belgium , as I understand. (correct me if I am wrong)

GovtCheez, saying they did it first, or as well, is not a valid reason. It is an poor excuse from a rich country that could and should set an example in the global market.

I am yet to see the Japanese PM spreading propaganda that Japan is encouraging 'free and fair trade' as GWB did recently in South America after just increasing subsidies to record levels AND adding more tariffs.

US introduces tariffs on steel and then this

This is the effect that GWB is having on world trade. Least the EU has a large and diverse enough trading base to offset the tariffs. Most of us don't.

And the american corporates are aiming at India to sell their products because we have the worlds 2nd population of 1000+ million.. Well and pollute india by shipping the wastage generated there...

Why does America always think it is the big boss.. Be it both comercial and political.....

ALL countries do whats best for themselves, looking after number one first.
The only reason America comes in for so much stick is that they are so powerful they tread on a lot more toes than less powerful countries.

But i do notice that the average American is too patriotic, you can't criticise their country without them going ape**** !!!
And they are probably the most ignorant people with regard to knowledge of other counties histories/culture/point of view.

Fine - novacain - you're a doodyhead. I know that because Japan (and plenty of other countries) do very similar things isn't an excuse, but I was just trying to make the point that you can't really single out the US for doing something that's practiced by most countries.

The US can put up tariffs but if someone else does they are wrong?

Your Mr Zoellick has been here spreading cheer as well. Apparently our quarantine laws are trade restrictive, because we are trying to preserve our 'clean and green' status. We, being an isolated island, don't have a lot of the common pests or diseases and are benefiting from that. (No Foot and Mouth, Mad Cow or rabbies(?) ect )

The US wants us to stop protecting our unique native wildlife (from things like fire ants) and let in anything in the name of free trade (which of course the US is the champion of at the moment).

Can you see why we are annoyed?

i did read about a recent survey of American kids, and 1/3 of them thought London was the capital of France !!
and most didn't know who America'S enemies were in WW2 !!
this was when Pearl Harbour came out, most didn't know that the US fought Japan !!! they didn't know about it, some thought it was fiction !!! frightening.
still, a recent survey of English kids......... 10% thought Hitlers first name was Heil !!!!
