as some of you know, i'm doing a project on the open source movement. forgetting all the arguements of web pages and companies on both sides of the issue, what is your opinion on the value of software?
does software have a value in money? there's something called the gift culture. in a gift culture a person's value is based on how much he/she gives. some say that the open-source community is a gift culture. what does this say about the value of money?
money has a value because it represents what we have. in a gift culture necessities are abundant, ie, nothing is needed. the open-source community works in its members' free time. iyo(in your opinion), how will that attitude spread throughout the rest of the economy?
