    Exclamation BSOD in XP!!!!!!!

After months of having XP, I didn't think it was possible. I thought it was taken out of XP and totally replaced by that "error report" message. But I was wrong. It was just reformatted.

For the first time, after months of thinking I was BSOD free with Windows XP, I got it. I got the BSOD in Windows XP!!! How can it be?!?!?

It looked different...it wasnt a bunch of memory address garbage...it was reformatted....but...it was UNMISTAKABLY the BSOD....oh my gosh Windows XP has the BSOD....

    we are all doomed...

Patch XP. As much as possible. If you got an OEM, then you can get a blue screen of death from something as insignificant as adding RAM, so for a new computer I would recommend reinstalling before you do anything else as the copy you have is undoubtedly a better one than was installed from the factory. Same goes for 2K for the most part.

Also, some XPs have had the never ending shut down problem we thought died in 98. Again, Windows update it and get all the patches and it should run much smoother (and safer).

[edit]Well of course we are all doomed..[/edit]

I got it once or twice, too....

Oh man, is this where windows just randomly shuts down every once in a while? It happened to me in the middle of two unsaved reports. It used to just shutdown without warning, but now it goes through the usual shutdown procedure. Looks like I need some updating...I always just click "remind me later"

hmm... yeah, I was just about to install XP today... my 98SE (and I still stand by it) has been acting flaky lately and I think i just need to wipe the drive clean and restart with a new OS... my roommate got a BSOD once... not that much different looking than the old one really... quite interesting tho... I found it truly interesting that it tried to tell you what the problem was if you got errors and had to reboot... thought that was pretty nifty...

XP? ha! Don't think so. I just moved to 2000 Pro at work about 8
months ago and I'm still running 98SE on all my computers at
home. And for the most part I live a pretty BSOD free life. I have
one friend who has XP and he hasn't had too many pleasant
    things to say about it.

well... truth be known... there have been reports stating that 98SE is one of the most stable platforms around (excluding *nix, of course)

I personally like XP, just haven't made the switch yet... I want to make sure I can get XP drivers for all my hardware..

No, trust me, people can hear you scream. All across my house, all through my neighborhood, ringing through the houses of everyone in the city, and a light yelling in the ears of everyone in the state. As you can tell, I get incredibly ........ed off, espescially when I'm programming or wiriting a report when it happens.

    OK,

How about no one at MS can hear you scream in the BSOD?

I havent got the blue screen in xp yet, but I have had problems starting up where it just freezes and sometimes my mouse and keyboard decide to stop working. I need win 2k! Oh man, I just wish you could run Windows programs on Linux. That would make life SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier.
