    Everything Deckard said
    Oh, that's just mean... True, but mean

    > and why not? you slaughtered the native people by the hundreds and have attitudes changed that much now a days? no they are shoved up in reservations where they live like homeless people

    First of all, Dean, if you're going to accuse us of something, get it right. It was at least by the thousands - probably by the millions. I'll be the first to admit that the policies with regards to the Native Americans were terrible, to say the least. It's not a lot different than the way any other country that's colonized North and South America treated the natives, though, so it's hardly fair to specifically pick on us. And there's no law that says they have to live on reservations. Where someone chooses to live is their business.

    > We were taxed just as much, no more, no less, than the people in Britain in the colonial period.

    True, but there's a difference. The British people back in Britain actually got a say in it. Actually got to vote on how they were taxed. Actually got to have representatives. We didn't.

    By the way, on the topic of that bit about (almost) native americans, thats the pot calling the kettle black. Just because the american colonization process happened a thousand years after the european, does not mean it was any more poorly done. The carving out of nations in the early european period was downright barbaric. To quote Daniel Jackson: "They didn't call it the Dark Ages because it was dark."

    For a more modern example, just look at the conflict between Ireland and Britain. At least all the citizens of America are proud to be americans, and not trying to break up the country b/c they don't like us.

    > Which is nothing like the US puting up to 30% tax on imported steel to prop up your bloated industry.

    Which is nothing like Japan putting heavy tariffs on imported cars to prevent GM and Ford from getting a foothold there.

    Which is nothing like the US puting up to 30% tax on imported steel to prop up your bloated industry. Instead of taking the hard road we had too over the last few years and cutting out the fat so we could produce cheaper steel at the cost of profit and jobs.

    It could cost me my job. Will cost other Aussies jobs.
    <

    DAMN IT WE HAVE NO CHOICE! a dozen or so foriegn governments are subsidising their damned steel AND CRUSHING OUR INDUSTRY FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN THEY CANNOT PRODUCE IT AS CHEAP AS WE DO!! WHICH IS ILLEGAL UNDER THE WTA! OUR STEEL INDUSTRY IS DEVASTATED!
    WE'VE WAITED FIVE FRIGGEN YEARS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT do you know how many THOUSANDS of Americans lost the jobs waiting five years for these tarrifs? and do you have any idea how many TENS OF THOUSANDS more will lose them if we dont?

    the prices on steel we are importing are ARTIFICIAL in that as soon as our industry dies the prices go back to greater than are own ever cost and were screwed!

    let me ask you how the hell can an industry keep up with pretend prices?!!

    besides the tarriffs only last for 3 years!

    >
    Hey, we sent troops to help you, we are your allies, why do that to us?
    <

    believe me when i say nobody wanted these tariffs. but we were forced!

    >Oh well, we will see you in court in a few years, when our steel industry is compleatly dead.

    ours is already! virtually our entire industry has been bankrupted by forign govt.s subsidising their steel! our steel industry was on the verge of COMPLETE collapse!

    im sorry, and i hope your industry does not die, but we have no choice!

    >Put in perspective, your foriegn aid is under US$50bil.

    and it should't even be that high damn it! not because i don't think we should help others but because it is being wasted!

    >Much less than a short war on terrorism.

    im not sure what you mean but when they decide to start blowing up your families by the thousands then maybe you'll think twice about denouncing or attempt to protect ourselves, and subsiquently you!

    (sigh)...
    before i say anything else, for the record i blame aran elus for this thread. discussion is all well and good, but you can't really show good intentions by calling the founders of a country "articulate babies". you're just begging for a flame war.

    first, no industry ever dies because of economic conditions. (not raw materials, anyway) our steel industry will survive even when other countries use slaves for labor. we pushed up tariffs because many of our people wanted it. you can't call an economic and political decision like that good or bad, period, but only good or bad for some group of people. our economic policy is not aimed against allies, but for our steel industry.

    i am part native american(seriously). my country has waged war, broke treaties, and waged biological warfare against them. but look at other european countries. look at columbus's expeditions and their impact on the native population(from around 3 million to ten thousands, correct me if i'm wrong). look at south africa's (former) racial policies. this is not a purely american problem, it's a human problem.

    Let us examine our countries present flaws

    Britain:
    * Ruled by a Queen, WTF?
    * Very bad transport
    * Low minimum wage
    * High obesity.

    America
    * Guns.
    * Ruled by a monkey.
    * Lots of psychos
    * Even higher obesity.
    * Bombs miss and hit other things a lot [chinese embassy]
    * Wayy too secretive about motives.
    * Bad education system.

    Yay, I win!
    [Britain probably has a few more flaws that I have forgotten, as with american]

    1) Since when are guns a bad thing... how else are we supposed to kill off the Brits?

    2) My monkey could whoop your queen's ass anyday... bring it

    3) psychos psychos everywhere... can't limit that to us... just because we're a little creative and like our drugs, that doesn't make us psychos

    4) we like to be fat... get over it

    5) well... would you like us to miss a little bit at a time, or just drop one bomb and be done with it?

    6) too secretive huh? ok, well i overheard that the next bomb is going to miss and hit your house... oh... was i supposed to say that?

    7) and yours is any better?

    Bullets kill people, especially when they come out of guns. Guns are bad.

    2) My monkey could whoop your queen's ass anyday... bring it

    Whatever, your monkey would just choke on his gumguard

    3) psychos psychos everywhere... can't limit that to us... just because we're a little creative and like our drugs, that doesn't make us psychos

    I like my drugs, but psychos are bad

    4) we like to be fat... get over it

    You won't be saying that when you die of a heart attack

    5) well... would you like us to miss a little bit at a time, or just drop one bomb and be done with it?

    You keep hitting the wrong things

    6) too secretive huh? ok, well i overheard that the next bomb is going to miss and hit your house... oh... was i supposed to say that?

    K, you won't hit the house anyway, you'll probably hit an american military base in france.

    7) and yours is any better?

    Yes.

    1. That's exactly how we kicked the Brits' ass some time ago and became independent, any more reasons?

    2. The Monkey that takes care of his country and is willing and not afraid to fight some sick terrorists cowards who want to interfere with his contry men and want to screw up our economy.

    3. The same psychos that are willing to die for their country and will get on a plane or whatever and kick your ass to defend our country.

    4. Sorry if we like to eat......Deal with it.

    5. True......but they have about 95% accuracy.

    6. What the government to tell the Brits our national secrets?

    7. Yet so many great minds come out of this Great Nation. Geez it must be something in the water then if not education.
