    Unhappy Getting bored...

    Hi,
maybe the weather is to blame, really don't know, but I'm really apathic lately.
I noticed that I don't feel the same excitenment, when I start coding, as before. As I always loved computers, I cannot understand what hapenned.
Since I do professional programming I lost something.

Previously, when I got an idea, I managed to make some nice tools, humorous programs etc. Now, I don't...

Have you ever got this feeling?

    P.s.
Hope, this won't last long, orelse I must change my profession...

Could be seasonal. As Winter comes closer, a lot of people find their moods change slightly

    I hope you're right.
Maybe it's just because I have to search for bugs all day long in someone's trashy code...
Maybe it's because since I do it for money, I've lost the feeling of "programming just for fun". And after 8 hours of professional hacking , there's no motivation to sit again in front of a computer, and develop my own projects.
There was a discussion somewhere, whether programming is an art or industry.
Well, my opinion is: it's (mostly) industry for professional programmers, and art for those who do it just for pleasure.
Unfortunately, I have no time for pleasures .

We all get real down from time to time...... well I do and im envious of those who dont.

Sometimes I'll get p........ed at one thing and not realise that the problem really comes from some unrelated problem. Sometimes its easier to focus your depression on one thing and ignore the real reason be it personal, professional or otherwise.

    Hang on in there Carlos......

Hey, I know what you mean... I don't write code ALL day, but I do enough of that and other more hardware related stuff at work that when I get home, I don't even feel like tweaking or doing stuff for my own machine. I spend so much time at work figuring stuff out and making it work that I don't feel like dealing with it at home. It took me a month to get around to setting up my network at home, just because I didn't feel like doing it. And the slightest problem told me I should stop doing it.

But I've slipped out of that for a bit. I even upgraded some of my drivers last nite for my own machine... the slumps come and go, trust me. Hang in there, you'll get the feeling back eventually.

to quote the signature of " fill in later"
if you dont like it, dont do it!

if you are not enjoying everything you do, the more you do it the more it will get you down. if you work as a programmer - take a holiday!

Fill In Later? One of our best and most well-known members!

I know what you mean, Carlos - everyone gets bogged down occasionally - take a vacation or try to get a different project, maybe.

    " fill in later" ?!
Sorry, what's this all about? Who's " fill in later"?

Note, my english knowledge isn't perfect , especially, if you're plyaing around with idioms or slang (?).

Btw, I just returned from a 24 days holliday, maybe that's the problem, maybe I feel the general tension.

What is going on, guys? IIIrd World War?
    Pray.

never mind about the fill in later thing, carlos. Iain just put that there because he's looking for the person who actually has that sig (or so I assume)
