Is it possible to get a job without taking a course in uni?

    Hi,

I luv programming. But as far as i know, many programming classes are boring, and many teachers can't teach, and progress is slow. I am still in high school but nearly finish. If want to ask if i don't do or take a programming course in uni, will i still be able to get a job relating to computer programming or related ones? I mean, other than the reasons above, i dun want to take a course it's because i am planning to self-teach myself the programming skills. And i don't want to repeat all the stuff i've learnt and do it all again in uni. I won't stop programming and learning right now, it became my hobby. Pls give your comments.

    thnx

Sure, it won't be as easy though since your first interview is obtained by degrees. You'll either have to be sneaky to get the interview and then wow them with your knowledge of programming or settle for a not so great job to gain experience.

A good alternative is a staffing service. They can help you get an interview with an employer and then you can show them that you actually know what you're doing. Be sure you actually do know what you're doing though, because most programming positions require you to answer several programming questions before you will be considered.
