Ever since downloading and using AVG free 8.0 I've been getting a lot of false positives.
One of them, Trojan horse proxy.ACCX is being reported inside of avgui.exe which is AVG's gui executable and it's being reported in Republic the Revolution. It also has reported other viruses and trojans inside of Hewlett Packard software and drivers that are for my new color laser printer.
What gives? If this thing reports 'too good' then what use is it? Anyone else experience this with the recent update?
I've also noticed very poor performance when opening web pages and during bootup of the computer. I've leaned my computer down to only the essential services and processes and it still bogs down since AVG 8.0. AVG 8.0 is now almost twice as slow as Norton and is quickly becoming annoying on my system. It's not my drives either because they are completely defragged and Diskkeeper 2008 is showing nearly all blue's on my drive maps. I have less than 1 fragment per file and the file tables are completely unfragmented.
AVG 8.0 does not seem to affect games but it affects everything else.
With my recent problems I'm ready to switch to Avast.
Also on another note:
If you are using ZoneAlarm with MSVS 2005 and coding in C# you will have troubles. ZoneAlarm somehow prevents new changes to code from being compiled with F5. So you have to manually build your changes and then build the solution. Annoying.
