    Windows xp sucks

How can every say that xp is really stable? IE crashes like 2 or three times a day and it seems like when explorer crashes they dont wanna tell you that it crashed and it just seems to reset or sumthing because the screen blanks out for a second or two and just goes back to the desktop for no reason, closing all programs. Also how many of those send microblows an error report have you gotten? Sure, when it crashes it doesnt bring down the whole system (like 9x did) but still its not that great.

    Sorry dean

No, I don't think it's just you... I do do that - it's this board's fault! It's more of a reflex now than anything else...

(hehe - my first post in this thread doesn't use the ellipsis at all! )

I do it too...and I don't know why (FYI, I swear that wasn't intentional back there...ouch, or this one)

These damned ellipses take you over!

Hey, someone actually rooted dean's box? What a flamer. Tell him he can try and root mine next...fyi again, rooting his box wouldn't give his cprog password. Not mentioning that, I think pretty much any little kiddie who gains illegal access to someone's PC is a total dorkus

Really your comments discust me, they do. As some other members of this board should recall, Troll King was one of the bigest avacites for Linux, and had a colege course on it.

Troll_King does not seem intested in servers, and main frames. That is what linux is good for. Unix is good for very powerful mathimatial work, because it was desined for.

As for windows- Windows 95, and 98 were perfectly stable for me, as long as I ran disk dignostic tools, and most other problems were a result of the hardware failing, and the fact that it maintainde backwords compatitiblity with DOS despite it's huge limitations

As for 2000 I have never heard off any one experinsing problems, with it.

And XP the ones that seem to have problems are the onces that did not pay for it.

[syn], those are some harsh words toward Dean. Don't get mad at him just because he likes Windows, and doesn't want to go back to Linux. (Yeah you heard me right.)

    >what makes beos, openbsd, freebsd,... better/worse than the mac, linux, or windows?<

I can only speak for BeOS:

    1. It's far more stable than any OS I've ever used.
    2. It's fast, real fast.
    3. It's free (well, there's a free version at least).
    4. Its filesystem beats the hell out of anything you can put on the table. 64-bit, journalled, supporting multiple terabyte hard disks, and being able to manage file sizes in the terabyte range. *drools*
    5. It can run 8+ mpegs all at once....and still being able to watch them, without glitches....on a P2 at 266MHz. (An example of BeOS' incredible multitasking abilities.)
    6. It's very powerful. Anything done via the GUI can be accomplished through the terminal (which is very UNIX like).
    7. SMP support. Sure, the server versions of Windows has this too, but BeOS is a desktop OS, not a server OS.

No one broke my security. I have a 20 year old system than anyone can access but nobody cares about. One of my better terminals is protected when I'm not using it.

Anyway, your pirating days are numbered because all Microsoft products are going to use product activation. You might as well get a real job so that you can pay for your software.

Yes, Windows is the best operating system, do I even have to mention that? Even these old mainframes that use Unix will have to upgrade to Micrsoft Windows if they want to compete with the next generation technology.

You would be wise to get busy learning how to program in Windows and .NET tomorrow morning, because you will be even further isolated in the future unless you act now.
