Sigh. You realize that if someone wants to chat about a general topic, they'll start such a topic. General topics like "everything in all" is usually a bad idea and gets locked or ignored pretty soon. I thought you should know that by now.

    JFonseka -

Elysia - this thread is not ignored, see three replies

zacs7 - why would you hope that? i am always polite! maybe sometimes a little disappointed! i take great care not to go off topic in a genuine thread! if i have to say something i usually PM it or start such thread and in every technical/programming board there is always such a general section! it's just that, more than you guys, i enjoy such sections more

i could join hundreds of other socializing sites on net, but, the sad part is, i will not be able to access them from my office, i am doing c++, i need to be on this board, and when bored on this board, i need to relax a bit, that's why general section is there, at least for me!!

    more posts! come on!! please!

Either it is locked, or it is ignored, and all 3 posts thus far has been directed at you, and not some general discussion.

But they can start their own threads. They do not need any "general, all for everything" topic like you seem to think. You are taking too much into your own hands, when you shouldn't be.
And many of your posts can be seen as rude because you obviously do not know how to form a formal request or question. And you seem to annoy members with endless questions or weird ideas.

Um, so, who's ready to see Renault step up at the Spanish Gran Prix?

Anyone like the show deadliest catch? Pretty neat huh? How about that episode of south park last night WOW.

This is what concerns me about this thread. If I post something like that, how am I going to keep up with the three different topics throughout this thread and that's just me posting topics. 0_o

The problem I have with topics like these is that you can essentially spam any topic in the world in little detail and expect conversation. As it happens, you end up talking with people who have their own agenda and know exactly what they want to talk about, such as

Or perhaps they have no idea what they want to say because they're happy talking about anything at all. Even if no one else would understand what you're saying or why.

Like, I could talk about Detroit Tigers baseball and how great todays game was, but who's going to know what I'm talking about? Why is it important to the people here? Without answers to these questions, I think people are just manufacturing spam.
